Bombers Coaching Staff

Head Coach and Manager Gene Bovello, aka, the Legend, has been involved in coaching for over 50 years! Formed in 1988, as the Maryland Bombers Select Baseball Team, Coach Bovello has been the head coach with a remarkable winning percentage of over 80%. In addition to coaching the Bombers, Coach Bovello is the owner and general manager. He brings a wealth of baseball experience along with dedication to his player and a passion to the game. When the Bombers joined the Cal Rikpen Collegiate League the name of the team was modified to the College Park Bombers to reflect the great neighborhood and university area where the Bombers play their home games.

Coach John McGowan

Coach John McGowan is part of a family baseball legacy. In 1992, his grandfather, Umpire William McGowan, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

As the head coach of Good Counsel High School, Coach McGowan led the team to the WCAC Championship was awarded the prestigious WCAC Coach of the Year Award.

Coach McGowan imparts a sense of competition, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and fun at ALL levels of baseball and is a great addition to the College Park Bombers.

Asst. Coach Bob Farmer, and Pete DiLima have joined the Bombers coaching staff as well.
